Puriri

Vitex lucens

Leaves are palmate, and may be quite wavy along the edges. They have a sheen to them and can appear almost a lime green. The trunks of the old trees are a pale colour, soft looking and full of holes. In this reserve there are some huge trees. The flowers of the puriri are pink and most attractive. They are present most of the year. The berries are rock hard and require considerable soaking time before germination occurs.
