Titoki

Alectrvon excelsus

New Zealand Ash

A number of old titoki are within the reserve but their leaves are not easy to see. A few seedlings may be found. The most obvious distinguishing feature of the large titoki is their dark bark and knotted "roots" which look like varicose veins. The leaves are formed from 4 - 6 pairs of leaflets which may be alternate to opposite in arrangement along the stem. The margins of the leaves may be serrated as shown in the picture above or smooth edged.
