Initial planting was carried out on a steep slope using weedmat to suppress weed growth. This area is now well established with the canopy trees showing through. What is more remarkable is that the seed plants such as the karamu have attracted the birds who have distributed seed from the surrounding forest and now young seedlings are regenerating under the protective pioneer “canopy”.
A particularly steep area which has been prone to weed infestations but is now starting to naturally suppress these invaders.
